The BioTherapeutics, Education & Research (BTER) Foundation is a non-profit, 5 years old, with national interests but based in Irvine, CA. We have only 5 board members, 10 Founding members (nationally), and no paid staff.
Our mission is to support patient care, therapist education and research in the fields of Biotherapy - using live animals to diagnose and treat disease, such as maggot therapy, leech therapy, honey bee therapy, cancer-detecting dogs, service dogs, phage and helminth therapy, etc. Our services include Patient Assistance Grants to subsidize the costs of biotherapy medical treatments, for those without insurance; educational programs to training medical personnel, and research grants. We also do some basic research ourselves.
